Junior Web Developer @ £20,000 - £30,000 p.a. (depending on experience)

Overview

We're looking for bright, enthusiastic, technical talent to join our team in Bedfordshire - do you fit the bill?  A great, inquisitive attitude and a passion for all things technological are essential, together with the ability to fit into a small but growing team and take the initiative on a wide range of technical tasks.

You *must* be able to demonstrate web design and programming skills, in a language of your choice; enthusiasm and understanding is valued as much as commercial experience - so if you know your stuff, and can communicate your knowledge, then a limited CV is not a problem.

Primary Responsibilities

Your primary tasks will involve:

  • Design: page design and site structure for application-oriented website(s), including elements of graphic design (including image and stylesheet creation)
  • Programming: development of websites and web applications, with a focus on client-side HTML and JavaScript development for effective data visualisation and interaction

You will also be expected to prepare and develop supporting technical documentation, to keep records of your work.

Your responsibilities are likely to evolve and expand pretty rapidly - this is a junior role, initially, but we are a growing company and this presents many opportunities for growth and development into more senior roles as you prove your ability and worth.

Experience

This is a junior role, so we are not expecting much commercial experience of web design or programming, but you should be able to demonstrate skill, knowledge and a solid grasp of a technical environment of your choice.

That said, candidates with experience of any of the following - the more experience and expertise, the better - will have an advantage:

  • Web-based graphic design - experience of image creation / HTML / CSS
  • Client-side programming - any knowledge of XML / Javascript (inc. JQuery) is useful
  • Operating systems - experience using Windows and/or Linux variants
  • Cloud environments - any knowledge of Google App Engine, Amazon EC2/S3 etc.
  • Methods - any experience of Agile / test-led development is useful

In short - the more you can demonstrate your appetite for all things web, with an emphasis on creative design and programming, the better your chances.

Skills

Along with your keen technical mind, you will need to have the ability to work as part of a small team, with frequent close work with senior managers. This means you will be:

  • Personable - happy to work in a team, able to mix in
  • Motivated - keen to learn, and able to prioritise work to meet deadlines
  • Communicative - able to explain your ideas, and prepared to speak up when challenges emerge

Application

Please send your CV, with a covering email explaining why you think you're right for Atheon Analytics, to recruitment@atheon.co.uk.
